He was fortunate and found private instruction with a well known Canadian artist who wishes to remain anonymous, and was then schooled in the chemistry of paint. His teacher refused to teach him how to paint, explaining that he will end up painting exactly like his teacher. The instruction was all about technique and paint chemistry, giving the artist the opportunity to develop his own style. 

Sol Levinson then started to paint landscapes. These paintings he called EscapeScapes, were inspired by the Canadian Wilderness, be it Parc Forillon, in Quebec or Banff National Park, in Alberta as well the Northern Tundra. 

He then joined, the  S.eSpace enSemble a Montreal Artist co-operative with a gallery in Westmount Quebec. After a series of group and solo exhibitions, Sol Levinson started two art groups Flac!, and L`association des artistes juifs, a multicultural group of artists, whose exhibitions are held in various North American cities.

Sol Levinson has now turned his talents to painting realism. His subject matter includes, windows and building facades .What makes these works special is his use of light and shadows across his canvas, which makes the artwork complete.
